The festival of Sukkot begins Sunday evening. During the seven-day holiday of Sukkot, we expose ourselves to the outdoors in covered huts, commemorating the sheltering of our ancestors as they traveled from Egypt to the Promised Land. Coming right after the solemn High Holidays, it is a time of celebration.
Come to our Sukkah raising and decorating event! Sunday October 13, beginning 2 pm.
We will met in the garden at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Use the entrance on 82nd street.
We will provide materials for children and adults to decorate the sukkah, as well as a Lulav (palm frond). It is a mitzvah to eat a meal in the sukkah. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch for eating after we finish decorating. All are welcome!
